What we do
AirportCarRentals.co is a car rental comparison service for airport pick-ups. You tell us where you land and when; we pull together what the international brands and the reliable local operators at that airport are quoting for the same dates, and show them side by side with the total price rather than a headline daily rate.
That distinction matters. The cheapest daily rate at an airport is rarely the cheapest rental, because airport surcharges, one-way fees, a restrictive fuel policy or a capped mileage allowance land afterwards. Every quote we show includes the compulsory charges for that location, the fuel policy, the mileage allowance and whether the desk is inside the terminal or a shuttle ride away — the four things that actually decide what you pay and how long you queue.
We do not own vehicles or run rental desks. Reservations are completed through our booking partner, CarTrawler (ETrawler Unlimited Company), which operates the booking engine behind the site and the apps and holds supplier agreements worldwide. The car is supplied by the rental company named on your voucher, under their terms and conditions.
Coverage
Pick-up is available at major hubs, regional airports, holiday-island terminals and downtown branches across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. A selection of the airports travellers book most often through us:
Not listed? Coverage extends well beyond this selection — search your arrival airport, or contact our team and we will confirm what is available.
Where people drive
Málaga, Alicante, Palma and Tenerife are the busiest leisure pick-ups in Europe. Book early for July and August, when the cheapest categories at Costa del Sol desks sell out weeks ahead.
Orlando, Miami and Las Vegas run high volumes and long counters. Suppliers offering online check-in will save you the most time after a transatlantic flight.
Rome, Milan, Naples and the Sicilian airports. Expect a compulsory excess and strict ZTL rules in historic centres — a smaller car is the practical choice, not just the cheaper one.
Keflavík rentals are seasonal and weather-dependent. Check the gravel and sand-and-ash cover in the terms, and whether winter tyres are included in your rental period.
Dublin, Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester. Irish rentals have their own insurance rules for visitors, so read the excess and credit card requirements carefully before you fly.
Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Christchurch. One-way rentals between islands or across states are common here, and the relocation fee is worth comparing across suppliers.
How it works
Enter the airport or IATA code, your pick-up and drop-off times, and the driver's age if a surcharge applies. Times matter — rentals are priced in 24-hour blocks, and an hour past the deadline adds a full day.
Filter by car size, transmission, fuel policy and whether the desk is in the terminal. Each result shows the total price, what the deposit will be and the supplier's own customer rating.
You receive a voucher with the supplier's address, opening hours and full terms. Change or cancel it through Manage Booking — free up to 48 hours before pick-up on eligible bookings.
Why book with us
Every quote includes the compulsory charges for that airport. Optional extras are listed separately so you can see exactly what you are agreeing to before you pay.
From Heathrow and JFK to island airports with a single desk, our supplier network reaches the major hubs and plenty of the smaller terminals too.
Plans change. Most reservations can be cancelled without charge up to 48 hours before pick-up, with refunds returned to the original payment method.
Local numbers for the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands — with the US, Canadian and UK lines answered 24 hours a day.
Search, book and manage a rental from your phone. The iOS and Android apps have been maintained continuously since their first release in 2017.
Reservations are processed by CarTrawler, one of the longest-standing car rental technology providers in travel, under agreements held directly with each supplier.
Our mobile apps
The AirportCarRentals.co app does everything the site does and keeps your voucher in your pocket: search by airport, filter by car size, transmission and pick-up type, save cars you like, then find and change your booking with a reference number and email address.
Both apps have been on the stores since 2017 and are free to download.
Before you book
The questions our support team answers most often, with the detail that stops a rental going wrong at the desk.
Bring a full driving licence you have held for at least the period the supplier requires, a credit card in the lead driver's name with enough available balance for the security deposit, your booking voucher, and a passport or national ID card. Some countries also ask for an International Driving Permit alongside a non-domestic licence. Requirements are set by each supplier and vary by airport, so read the rental terms attached to your booking before you fly — desk staff apply them exactly as written.
In most cases, no. Airport suppliers use a credit card in the main driver's name to hold the security deposit, and that card must be embossed and in date. A minority of suppliers accept debit cards, usually with a higher deposit, extra identity checks or compulsory insurance cover, and prepaid or virtual cards are rarely accepted anywhere. Check the card policy in the terms before you book, because turning up with the wrong card is the single most common reason a rental is refused at the desk.
The price you see covers the car for your dates, the compulsory charges that apply at that airport — basic damage and theft cover, airport surcharges, local taxes and fees — and the mileage allowance stated in the terms. Optional extras are quoted separately and are normally paid at the desk: child seats, an additional driver, satellite navigation, winter tyres, cross-border cover, extra insurance to reduce the excess, and any young or senior driver surcharge.
Most airport bookings are paid in full at the time of booking, which locks in the price you saw. Some suppliers instead take a deposit now with the balance due at the desk, and a smaller number allow you to pay on arrival. Whichever applies to your rate is shown on the rental terms before you confirm, along with the deposit the supplier will pre-authorise on your credit card at pick-up.
Yes. Open Manage Booking on this site or in the app, enter your booking reference number and the lead driver's email address, and you can view, amend or cancel the reservation. Amendments are generally possible right up to the pick-up time, and eligible bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before pick-up. Cancel inside that window and a fee may apply, depending on the supplier's conditions. Refunds are returned to the card used for the original payment.
Three policies cover almost every airport rental. Full to full means you collect a full tank and return it full; it is the most common and usually the cheapest, because you only pay the pump price. Same to same means you return the car with the same level shown at pick-up. Prepaid fuel (sometimes full to empty) means you buy the tank up front at the supplier's rate and any fuel left when you return is not refunded. The policy for your car is stated on the search results and on your voucher.
Yes. You can add extra drivers during booking or at the rental desk on arrival. Every additional driver has to be present at pick-up with their own licence and ID, and must meet the same age and licence-held rules as the lead driver. There is normally a daily fee, often capped over a longer rental, though some rates in the United States and Spain include one extra driver at no cost. Anyone driving who is not named on the rental agreement invalidates the cover.
Add your flight number when you book. Suppliers with a desk in the terminal use it to track your arrival and hold the car beyond the booked pick-up time, typically for a set grace period after landing. Off-airport suppliers reached by shuttle bus, and desks at smaller regional airports, keep fixed opening hours — if your new arrival time falls outside them, contact the supplier or our support team as early as you can so the booking can be moved rather than marked as a no-show.
Confirmations are normally issued within 48 hours of booking. If nothing has arrived, check your spam or promotions folder first, then confirm the email address on the reservation was typed correctly. You can also pull up the full booking at any time through Manage Booking using your reference number and the lead driver's email. If you still cannot find it, email info@airportcarrentals.co or call the support line for your country and we will resend it.
Walk around the car before you leave the bay and photograph or film every panel, the wheels, the windscreen and the roof, plus the fuel gauge and the odometer. Make sure any scratch, dent or chip you find is written onto the check-out sheet and that a member of staff has signed it — undeclared damage is the usual reason for a post-rental charge. Also confirm the fuel policy on the agreement matches your voucher, check the spare wheel or tyre kit and any legally required equipment is present, and note where the car has to be returned, since drop-off is not always the same terminal as pick-up.
Compare airport car rentals, book in a few minutes, and keep the voucher on your phone.
