We make airport car rental prices comparable

Why we built this

Renting a car at an airport should be the easy part of a trip. In practice it is the part where a low advertised rate turns into a longer bill at the desk: an airport surcharge here, a fuel policy that quietly costs a tank there, a mileage cap nobody mentioned, a queue in a car park two shuttle stops from arrivals.

We started AirportCarRentals.co to make those differences visible before you commit, not after you land. That means showing the total price for your dates rather than a headline daily rate, stating the fuel policy and the mileage allowance next to every car, and being clear about which desks are inside the terminal and which are a shuttle ride away.

What we do, plainly

We are a comparison service. We do not own vehicles, employ desk staff or set rental prices. What we do is bring together the offers that international brands and established local suppliers are making at your arrival airport, present them on the same terms so they can be compared honestly, and pass your reservation to the supplier you choose.

Reservations are completed through our booking partner CarTrawler (ETrawler Unlimited Company, Classon House, Dundrum Business Park, Dundrum, Dublin 14, Ireland), which operates the booking engine behind this site and our apps and holds the supplier agreements. The rental agreement itself is between you and the company named on your voucher.

Our apps, running since 2017

Our first mobile release went live in 2017, and both apps have been maintained continuously since. They do the whole job from a phone: search an airport, filter by car size, transmission, fuel policy and pick-up type, save the cars you are weighing up, and pull the booking back up later with a reference number and the lead driver's email address.

Keeping the apps in step with the website matters more than it sounds. A voucher is what the desk asks for, and phone signal in an arrivals hall is not guaranteed — so the booking, the supplier's address and their opening hours all need to be somewhere you can reach.

How we approach transparency

• No invented savings. We do not publish comparison claims we cannot stand behind, and we do not show struck-through prices that were never charged.
• No manufactured reviews. Supplier ratings shown in search results come from the booking platform's own post-rental feedback, not from us.
• Terms before payment. Deposit amount, fuel policy, mileage allowance, driver age rules and the accepted payment cards are all available before you confirm.
• A clear cancellation position. Eligible bookings can be cancelled free up to 48 hours before pick-up, and refunds go back to the original payment method.

Customers first, in practice

Most problems with an airport rental happen in a ten-minute window at the desk — the wrong card, a licence held for too short a time, an undeclared scratch. So our support is built around that window. Local phone numbers cover the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands, and the US, Canadian and UK lines are staffed around the clock, because arrivals happen at three in the morning as often as at three in the afternoon.
