How AirportCarRentals.co handles personal data across our website and mobile apps. Last updated 21 July 2026.
About this notice
This notice is issued by AirportCarRentals.co, the owner of this website and of the Airport Car Rentals mobile apps (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy, and we take care with personal information — keeping it secure and using it only for legitimate business purposes, in accordance with applicable law.
It sets out the basis on which personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, is processed. It applies to this website, to our iOS and Android apps, and to the booking engine accessible through both. Please read it alongside the booking engine's terms and conditions of use.
Who controls your data
Bookings made through this website and our apps are processed by ETrawler Unlimited Company, trading as CarTrawler (“CarTrawler”), whose registered office is at Classon House, Dundrum Business Park, Dundrum, Dublin 14, Ireland. CarTrawler operates the booking engine — the Platform — and is therefore the controller of the personal data described below.
We introduce you to CarTrawler for the purpose of providing vehicle rental and related travel products and services (the “Services”). In most of the cases described below, we do not control your personal data, because we do not operate the booking engine and do not receive that data — CarTrawler does. CarTrawler's own privacy statement is available at cartrawler.com/ct/privacy-policy.
If you have a question about how your personal data is processed, you can contact CarTrawler directly using the link above, or email us at info@airportcarrentals.co.
Information we may collect
We may collect and process information you give us by filling in forms on this site or in the app. That includes information provided when you register, complete a vehicle rental booking form or an enquiry form, post material, request further services, enter a competition or promotion we sponsor, or report a problem with the site.
To process a booking you will be asked for details such as your name, address, email address, payment information and booking details. CarTrawler needs this information in order to arrange the Services. Information is also collected from the device you use, such as your IP address, browser and device type. In addition, we sometimes receive information collected on our behalf or on CarTrawler's behalf by third parties — for example when you see an AirportCarRentals.co advert on another website.
Data you provide
| Category | What is collected |
|---|---|
| Booking details | Name, address, email address, phone number and payment details needed to process the reservation. |
| Abandoned bookings | If you start but do not complete a booking, limited details such as your name, email address and phone number, depending on the contact method you chose. |
| Queries and complaints | The details of your query or complaint and how it was handled. Further details may be requested from the relevant transport or service provider and may also be recorded. |
| Insurance policies | If you take out a policy with one of CarTrawler's insurance partners: name, address, email address, phone number, booking reference, IP address and payment details. |
| Other ancillary products | If you book any other ancillary service: name, address, email address, phone number, booking reference, IP address and payment details. |
| Location data | If you use the booking services on a mobile device with location services enabled, your location is recorded to help you find nearby transport or services. Your IP address is used to determine which country you are booking from. |
Data collected automatically
When you use our services and the booking engine, various technologies — including cookies and similar identifiers — automatically capture details about your device and how you interact with the booking engine:
- Device details: IP address, device ID, browser and operating system.
- How you interact: the date and time of your visit, the pages you view, how long you stay, where you click, and details of any crashes or system errors you encounter.
- How you arrived: where possible, how you reached the site and accessed the booking engine — for example from a search engine or by clicking one of our adverts.
How your data is used, and the legal basis
The main reason your personal data is used is to process your car rental and ancillary bookings, and to deal with any queries or issues arising from them. It may also be used to tailor adverts and marketing emails so they are relevant to you, and to monitor use of the Platform in order to make improvements and adjust what is displayed.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Bookings | Processing bookings with the service providers and letting you manage them through the Platform. CarTrawler does this either because it is necessary for the performance of a contract, or on the basis of its legitimate interests in providing the booking service. |
| Abandoned bookings | Contacting you to check whether you encountered a problem while booking. Legitimate interest in ensuring quality customer service and that there are no issues with the Platform. |
| Insurance and ancillary products | Facilitating the booking of that Service. Necessary for the performance of a contract with you, or the legitimate interests of CarTrawler or its service provider in providing the Service. |
| Queries and complaints | Answering your query or resolving your complaint. Legitimate interest in resolving customer queries and complaints. If you volunteer information about your health, that data is processed only on the basis of your explicit consent, to resolve your query or complaint. |
What you have to provide
You are not obliged to provide any personal data. However, to make a booking or take an ancillary service you will need to provide the information the booking engine requests — without it, your booking cannot be processed. Similarly, certain information may be needed if you contact customer services with a query or complaint so that it can be answered.

Tracking

Third-party services
AirportCarRentals.co works with third-party providers, including booking partners such as CarTrawler, to complete reservations. These providers may process your personal data independently, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies and similar technologies are used to operate the booking engine, remember your preferences, and measure how the site and app are used so we can improve them. Analytics data of this kind tells us which pages are visited, how long visitors stay and where errors occur.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and reset or limit advertising identifiers in your device settings. Blocking cookies used by the booking engine may prevent parts of the booking process from working.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and, where it applies, the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- be informed about how your personal data is processed;
- request access to a copy of the personal data held about you;
- have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected;
- request erasure of your personal data in certain circumstances;
- request that processing be restricted in certain circumstances;
- receive your personal data in a portable format, or have it transmitted to another controller, where processing is based on consent or a contract and carried out by automated means;
- object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, and to object at any time to processing for direct marketing;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority — in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner's Office.
Because CarTrawler is the controller of booking data, requests relating to that data are best directed to CarTrawler using the contact route in their privacy statement. If you contact us first at info@airportcarrentals.co, we will pass the request on.
